The Team

The Destination Nature team is a group of talented writers and storytellers with years of experience in publishing, marketing, and content creation. We’ve worked on national campaigns, led multi-million dollar brands, and above all, we’ve created really great content along the way.

Stacy Tornio is the owner and creator of Destination Nature. She is a total bird nerd and garden geek, and she’s written more than a dozen books about nature and getting kids outside. Her top professional claims to fame include running a magazine that had a bigger circulation than Playboy (Birds & Blooms, 1.5 million subscribers at the time), and being a celebrity guest judge with Tony Hawk. Who knew they let authors claim celebrity status?!?! Read more about Stacy here.

Liz Russell earned a bachelor’s degree in horticulture and life science communications and is thrilled to put them both to good use as a contributor for Destination Nature. She’s an outdoor enthusiast and always looking for new way to get her two kids outside and excited about nature (a challenge since one has bug-related nightmares on the regular), and to make nature more accessible and engaging for all. She’s written about gardening and numerous other topics throughout her career, filling her brain with random facts and her heart with many interests along the way.

Crystal Rennicke has been reading and writing since she was a kid. She’s worked for many national brands, including magazines like Birds & Blooms, Backyard Living, and more. During the summer, you’ll find Crystal camping with her family and trying to find new recipes to try with her garden harvest. (Seriously, does anyone have good cucumber recipes?)

Katie Benoit is a seasoned former book editor at FalconGuides, the leading outdoor recreation publisher in North America, where she acquired and edited numerous books geared towards getting children outside, including two National Outdoor Book Award winners. She is currently an independent editor and writer. A mother of two little ones, Katie enjoys taking her brood outdoors as much as possible, whether it’s taking a trek on a local trail, scouring for seashells at the beach, or simply enjoying one of the many parks in her Connecticut shoreline town. Jamie Klinger-Krebs is an author, designer and marketing professional who loves spending time outdoors. Her nearly 20-year writing career includes trade publications, magazines, newspapers, two novels and one very snarky blog. As a self-described nerd, you can usually find Jamie with her nose in a book or tapping away on a computer. But, when she’s not feeding her brain, you just might find her out on the water paddle boarding with her daughter (and the dog) or photographing trees. (It’s a weird obsession, but trees are cool.)

Destination Nature is looking for additional outdoor ambassadors. Interested? Learn more here!
