I am beyond excited to share my new book with the world, Plants You Can’t Kill. I wrote this book after years of working at the gardening magazine, Birds & Blooms. During that time, I saw a lot of books cross my editor’s desk, yet most of them were NOT for beginner gardeners. At the same time, family, friends, and acquaintances would ask me for recommendations on what to grow in their garden. They would always say something to me like, “What’s so easy to grow even if I forget to water it?” Or “Give me something to grow that is impossible to fail at.”
After a while, I started catching on. And I realized that I was recommending the same trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals, veggies, houseplants, and grasses over and over again.
This is when I decided to turn the concept into a book, featuring the easiest, most desirable options in the plant world. Plants You Can’t Kill: 101 Easy-to-Grow Species for the Beginning Gardener is the result. Each and every plant in the book was carefully selected by a plant committee, made up of wonderful gardening experts that I’ve gotten to know over the years.
The book is broken up by the following categories:
- ANNUALS
- PERENNIALS
- GRASSES
- SHRUBS AND TREES
- HOUSEPLANTS
- VEGGIES & HERBS
- ANNUALS
The book includes planting info, tips, and other tidbits on each plant. Whether you’re new to gardening or just need some easy, can’t-fail plants, I hope this book helps you along your gardening journey. Here are 13 of the plants featured in the book.
